Why We Teach & Why We Play
A3 Hockey was conceived out of a passion for the sport, community, and teaching.
Why we play is at the core of our development philosophy. We participate in hockey because it’s fun. We strive to create an environment that is inclusive, engaging, and challenging, while keeping in mind that the sport is meant to be enjoyed. Those who work hard, compete with intensity and integrity, and have the right attitude will be rewarded with the benefits of personal growth, lasting friendships, and athletic development.
We play to engage with others who share in appreciation for playing in the moment.
We chose to have a “hockey for life” attitude, with the hopes of instilling a sense of belonging, accomplishment, and an enduring passion for the game that will keep the participants active in the sport for many years to come.
Our curiosity and dedication propels us to be innovative, thoughtful and engaging, while creating and executing practices, clinics, and camps.
running through our veins… How we function inside and out
A3 Hockey offers various development programs for youth hockey players. Our objective is to assist each player in building a solid foundation and understanding of the game. We accomplish this by developing their individual skills, hockey sense, and teaching the essential concepts of teamwork and camaraderie.
How we play is a reflection of who we are. The A3 Team are all elite competitors who have realized the importance of selflessness within a team and a community. Our value-based approach to others and the game highlights the importance of embodying core human values to grow as children, parents, students, and teachers.
Through our experience as coaches and players, we recognize that there are numerous transferable skills and values that can be learned through the sport. We make an effort to communicate with all participants by providing instruction, feedback, and encouragement.
We are grateful to work in a field that we are passionate about and have the opportunity to share our experience with others. We do our best to see the world through a lens of cooperation, compassion, and understanding.
We strive to embody our values and practice them on a daily basis, as they are the core of our teaching philosophy.
Attitude … is a mindset
A1 = Is your ability to perceive the value in all situations. We feel that life offers a unique experience of outstanding moments, but also adversity. Our attitude is the key component of our DNA that helps us to appreciate (love) and learn (grow) in preparation for future challenges.
Adaptability… is where abilities meet
A2 = Is how we are shaped to overcome through the experience of life and its unpredictability. Adversity is our driving force. It's what helps us reach the limits of our body, mind and soul by being ever-evolving, while adjusting to novel situations and environments.
We are conscious that everyone is different and we aim to adapt to every situation.
Altruism … is about relationships
A3 = We share the game, we share our experiences, and we share our lives. By virtue of our relationships, we live, we love and we engage in all aspects of the human experience. That is what makes us who we are and others so vital.
Combining all three values gives a foundation for growth in all spheres of life. Offering an openness to the duality of teaching and learning at all ages. Our purpose is to enhance the lives of each other everyday.
