As per the Ananda Ramayana, Hanuman is Rama’s brother and isborn of the same sacred sweet that made Dasaratha’s wives pregnant. Dasaratha, the king of Ayodhya, performed Putrakameshti Yagna in order to have children. The king received a sweet pudding from the Yaga and it was shared by the kingamong his three wives.
Vayu, the wind god, in the form of hawk, pecked a bit of thepudding from the hands of Sumitra, the youngest wife of Dasaratha.
Anjana was worshipping Shiva for many years in order to geta powerful child. Shiva was pleased with her tapasya and had told her to raiseher palms to the sky and wait patiently.
The hawk dropped the sweet pudding in the hands of Anjana.
She consumed the sweet pudding and Hanuman was born to heras a result of this. Thus Hanuman is the half brother of Sri Ram according toAnanda Ramayana.
