How to look good on the slopes: fashion & beauty tips for winter wonderland beauties (1)The new ski season is in full swing again and this time it is about more than just showing off your spectacular slalom turns. This season you can also showcase your sense of style and your flair for fashion on the slopes. Let’s have a look at five fashion and beauty tips for winter wonderland beauties.

1. Put together a figure-flattering outfit
Comfort, warmth and water resistance should always be your priorities when putting together a skiing or snowboarding outfit, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t also look fashionable. Go for a cute tailored jacket that cinches in at the waist and get some form-fitting snow pants that flare out at the bottom. You may be losing your balance on the slopes, but never your feminine curves!

2. Accessorize
Don’t forget to accessorize. The devil is in the details after all. Pick a pair of gloves that match your outfit, colour coordinate your snow goggles with the colours of your snow gear and don’t be afraid to infuse some colour into your look by wearing a colourful scarf or a flashy bandana. You can even take it a step further and get skis or a snowboard to match your outfit. Many brands nowadays make special women’s skis and women’s snowboards. Not only are these skis and snowboards lighter and easier to maneuver, but they are also specially designed for women. So think pretty prints, trendy colors and feminine designs.

3. Go for waterproof
Keep your eye make-up minimal and make sure that whatever make-up you are wearing is waterproof. With just a hint of waterproof eyeliner, some water-resistant mascara and maybe even some smudge-proof eye shadow you can create a wonderful piste-appropriate look. It’s quick, effortless and will make you feel just that little bit more confident when taking off your snow goggles for the après-ski party.

If you don’t feel comfortable wearing make-up on the slopes but still want to look your best when the off-piste fun begins, you can bring a little emergency make-up pouch for a quick post-ski touch-up. All you need is some concealer, face powder, mascara and lipstick and you are good to go.

4. Ditch the traditional ski lip balms
The days that ski lip balms turned your lips into a frosty white mess are over. Many beauty brands nowadays offer tinted lip balms and lip glosses with UV protection. Look for a lip balm or lip gloss with an SPF of at least 15 and make sure to reapply it regularly. This year’s Pantone color of the year is marsala, so why not be a trendsetter and wear an earthy wine red lip balm to protect your lips while conquering the slopes?

5. Keep it together
Leaving your hair down while skiing or snowboarding is asking for trouble. Not only will your hair get in your face and get all tangled up, but it might even get caught in your snow gear. So keep your hair together and make sure to choose a helmet-proof hair style. High ponytails and updos are a no-go, but a low ponytail, a cute bun in the nape of your neck or even a traditional braid or a fishtail braid are great choices. The advantage of wearing your hair in a braid is that once you take it out you will be left with gorgeous curls that are bound to make your fellow après-skiers’ heads turn.

These five tips are all you need to hit the slopes in style this year. Have fun. And (don’t) break a leg!
