Football is upon us! It’s time for pee wee league practice to start and little ones to try and be Peyton Manning. So, before they head out to practice we wanted to remind you of some important safety items.

Anyone participating in a sportwhere there’s a risk of falling or having head contact with another player or equipment should wear a mouthguard.

  • This includes sports such as football, basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, bicycling, skateboarding, and gymnastics.
  • A mouthguard helps absorb the shock from a blow to the face that might otherwise result in an injury to the mouth or jaw.
  • It can limit the risk for chipped or broken teeth, internal damage to a tooth, tooth loss, and even a broken jaw.
  • A mouthguard also can protect the soft tissues of your cheek lining, tongue, and lips.
  • Now, when you send your little one out onto that football or soccer field, remind them that Peyton Manning uses mouth protection, and they should too!

Good luck to all the fall sports participants!
