Q. Is it true that Mickey Rourke recently got into a fight with a photographer and emerged with two front teeth missing?
A. Rourke, an ex-boxer, lost his front teeth before becoming a movie star. The pearly whites we now see onscreen are caps. Also, Mickey isn’t as resistant to photographers’ demands as is his pal, actor Sean Penn. It’s true that Rourke is making public appearances sporting a chipped tooth. He filed it down as physical preparation for his role in Barfly, Mickey’s latest flick in which he plays a seedy semi-alcoholic who is fast with his fists.
Q. Does actor Peter Falk dress in the somewhat slovenly manner of the detective he played on the TV series Columbo?
A. Falk is strictly an actor. Columbo’s fashion sense, or non-sense, was strictly character affectation as far as Falk was concerned. For example, we spotted him standing inside the lobby of a movie theater during the recent Cannes Film Festival. Seems he is the co-star of an arty German flick titled The Sky Over Berlin, which played the festival. Point is that while the theater audience was casually dressed, Falk was nattily turned out in a tuxedo — resembling Columbo not in the slightest.
