Queen Maxima of the Netherlands proved her fashion prowessonce again when stepping out in Indonesia today - dressed to impress in a floral ensemble.

The Dutch royal, 48, and her husband King Willem-Alexander, 52, visited aDutch Cultural Centrenext to the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta, this afternoon.

Mother-of-three Maxima offered a traditional Indonesian greeting to those she met - grasping her two hands together to perform asembah salute.

It comes after it was announced the Dutch royals would not shake hands due to fears of the Coronavirus. Exceptions will be made at a few events.

The royal couple viewed the 'Innovation' photo exhibition in the Erasmus House, part of a competition for young Indonesian photographers.

Due to the fears surrounding the Coronavirus, it was announced the Dutch royals would not shake hands, at the exception of of few events, including a reception thrown by President Joko Widodo in Bogor on Tuesday.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the Netherlands increased by 61 to 382, officials said on Tuesday, as a large cluster was identified at a southern Dutch hospital, according to local media.

Indonesia reported its first COVID-19 case earlier this month and officially has just 19 infections.

Arriving at Bogor Palace looking relaxed and in good spirits, Maxima donned a floral frock, believed to be by Belgium fashion house Natan, and an eye-catching golden headpiece.

Maxima was also greeted by the President’s one-year-old granddaughter, Sedah Mirah, from his second daughter, Kahiyang Ayu. The adorable little girl offered the grinning royal a flower before posing for pictures.

During a speech at the event,King Willem-Alexander said: 'Mr President, It is a great honour for my wife and me to be your guests. In recent years we have got to know each other well.

'We see this state visit as an affirmation of the close bond that has grown between us. And we look forward to making the bond with you and your country even stronger.

'We are deeply saddened by the tragic boat accident, yesterday, on the Sebangau River. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and with the injured.'

At least eight people are missing following a speedboat collision on the Sebangau River in Central Kalimantan, yesterday.

It involved members of an advance team preparing for the Dutch royal visit to Sebangau National Park, according to the Jakarta Post.

Indonesia's Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said: 'The accident occurred when the boat owned by the area’s military command hit a boat owned by the Sebangau National Park that was sailing back from the Mangkok Resort.'

'Today we warmly congratulate the people of Indonesia as you celebrate 75 years of independence.

'We are looking forward to the coming days. Our visit has a wonderful, future-oriented programme. At the same time, it is a good thing that we continue to face up to our past. The past cannot be erased, and will have to be acknowledged by each generation in turn.'
