The amount of practice that goes into Dancing With The Stars is actually phenomenal (2024)

A serious amount of work goes in each week.

Dancing isn’t a discipline you can half-arse, it’s vary apparent to the trained eye when people don’t know that they’re doing. So, you have to bring your A-game every week on Dancing With The Stars.

This week, the show said goodbye to former Irish rugby international Tomas O’Leary and his dance partnerGiulia Dotta as their Thor-themedPaso Doble wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition.

Last week, Tomas appeared on The Hard Yards alongside Mike McCarthy where he discussed the amount of work required for each week on the show.

When he talks about the amount of work that goes into each week, we’re happy it was him and not us. You can listen it from 2.00 below.

If you don’t have time to listen to it now, here’s a quick rundown of what Tomas said about Dancing With The Stars.

“I’m doing about four hours of actual training and dance technique during the day,” Tomas said, “And I’m learning about the characteristics and requirements of each dance. So I’m an expert on the foxtrot and the jive already, and I”m doing a Paso Doble this weekend. It’s good craic.

“The slow dances are OK, but the jive was tough physically. I was seriously struggling, after I danced on Sunday, on Monday it was like I played a rugby game. I’m just about recovered from that but thankfully, the Paso is a bit slower and a bit more about character.”

He also added that some dancers frequently put in nine hours of practice each day to get ready for the weekend.
