What MLB teams have multiple World Series titles? (2024)
Last season, the Houston Astros picked up another World Series title after their Game 6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. This was their second championship trophy in history, the first given to them in 2017 amid a cheating scandal that marred the Astros’ record that year.
Houston joined the ranks of several other teams who have won the World Series more than once: with their last pennant, there are now 21 multi-title holders.
However, it will take the Astros, or any other team, a long, long time to catch up with the team with the biggest number of titles in Major League Baseball.
New York Yankees reign supreme
The New York Yankees have an astounding total of 27 trophies. They won the first one just over a hundred years ago in 1921, and they had their last victory in 2009.
The St. Louis Cardinals are a distant second with 11 World Series titles. They are followed by the Athletics and the Boston Red Sox, who have nine each, followed by the Giants with eight, and the Dodgers with seven.
Bottom of the list
On the lower side of the table, the Arizona Diamondbacks, Angels, and Nationals sit with one World Series win each.
There are six teams in the history of the league who have yet to win a single championship- the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Rangers, Colorado Rockies, Brewers, and Seattle Mariners.

Perhaps that's why since Major League Baseball held the first official World Series back in 1903, just 14 teams have been able to win at least two titles in a row. Oddly enough, the first franchise to accomplish the feat was the Chicago Cubs, who took back-to-back championships in 1907 and 1908.
