There are several things you need to consider when choosing the correct size needle. Follow the steps below to select the correct needle.
1. The smaller the needle, the finer the needle will be in diameter.
2. You need to use fine needles with lightweight fabrics.
3. Use thicker needles with heavyweight fabrics.
4. To prevent skipped stitches, use ball point needle (golden colored) 90/14 with stretch fabrics.
5. To prevent skipped stitches, use ball point needle (golden colored) 90/14 when sewing character or decorative stitches.
6. Use needle 75/11 when embroidering.
7. When embroidering heavyweight fabrics or fabrics that require stabilizer fabric (denim or puffy foam) use a 90/14 needle.
8. Ball point needles (golden colored) are not recommended for embroidering; they may break and cause some type of injury.
9. Only use home sewing machine needles in your machine.
10. The factory recommended needle is HG-4BR (Organ). Schmitz needles Jersey Ball Point 130/705H SUK 90/14 may be used as a substitute.
11. With transparent nylon thread use 90/14 to 100/16 needle regardless of the fabric or thread.
12. Be sure to follow the needle, thread, and fabric chart below to obtain the best results.
Note: Never use a thread weight of 20 or lower; it may cause your machine to malfunction.
