Tourist Information

Parking
Highway 525 runs through Clinton to the ferry terminal. There is one small lot to the right of the tollbooths. There is a free Park-n-Ride lot available on Deer Lake Rd. behind the Post Office about a 1/2 mile north off Highway 525 with free bus service to the ferry during normal bus service hours. Another pay lot is located behind Simmon’s Garage also about ½ mile from the tollbooths. The paid parking lot near the tollbooth and the daily/monthly parking is 1/2 block from terminal.

Parking Shuttle
Island Transit provides free service on Whidbey Island, for information on connections between the Park-n-Ride lot and the ferry terminal check Island Transit.

Motorcycles
While motorcycles are not, by Washington Administrative Code (WAC 468-300-700), a preferential loading category of users, they are often loaded prior to automobiles for operational and staging purposes. Arrival at the dock after vehicle load has commenced requires motorcycles to wait until all cars have been loaded for the next motorcycle loading opportunity. Motorcycles should proceed, while on the dock, at no more than 10 mph. Use caution when car decks are wet. The following information details specific staging for this terminal:

Motorcycle Fare Purchase/Redemption
Purchase tickets at the auto tollbooths, at the kiosk inside the terminal waiting room, or online in advance. Redeem at the auto tollbooth.

Motorcycle Entry/Staging
Motorcycles may bypass the ferry holding lane (right lane) by using the “local traffic lane” (left lane) coming down the hill approaching the traffic light. Once past the light in front of the tollbooths, queue after last vehicle for entry to staging area. Travel down bus lane and stage in front of vehicle holding.

Motorcycle Loading
Loading order: bicycles, motorcycles, vehicles, late arriving motorcycles as space permits.
Once vehicle loading begins, motorcycles proceed to the diamond lane (far right lane) and wait for boarding until vehicle load concludes.

Motorcycle Special Communication
During special occasion events when there is a high volume of motorcycle traffic, bypass traffic line if special lanes are designated for staging on the dock.
For group events, it is recommended that customers contact Customer Service in advance for possible special accommodation at the dock.

Trucks
WSF requires trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 80,000 lbs and/or over 8’6” wide to have “travel approval” before crossing any of our routes. Vessels on this route have a limited height clearance and trucks may be loaded out of sequence.

Trucks that have a gross vehicle weight of over 80,000 lbs but are hauling less than 80,000 lbs will need to provide a weight slip.

Please fill out our Oversized/Overweight Vehicle Travel form and email it to wsfinfo@wsdot.wa.gov. Please allow three business days for completion and approval. You can contact us at anytime for status updates at (206)464-6400.

Bikes
There is no payment for passengers or bicycles traveling from Clinton to Mukilteo. Bicyclists may bypass the line of vehicle traffic to get onto the ferry dock. They do not need to stop at the tollbooth. Bicyclists should arrive 20 minutes prior to departure time to be loaded at the beginning of loading process. If a bicyclist arrives after vehicle loading has begun, he or she will be loaded at the end of the load. Riders should walk their bikes on and off the ferry to avoid injuring passengers. There is one rack at the terminal, which holds 8 bikes.

HOV
Carpool/Vanpools must be ticketed and in line 10 minutes before scheduled sailing time to receive preferential loading. If you are late, you will be loaded on a space available basis at the end of the loading. For information or to register for our rideshare program see ourcarpools and vanpools page.
