Auditions are fast approaching! I'm sure you're excited to become part of an NFL pro cheerleading/dance team. Is it the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders? Because they've already released this year's audition details. Here's what you need to know about the auditions and getting yourself prepared!
Audition Rounds
2020 audition dates are the following:
- May 2 - Preliminaries
- May 3 - Semi- Finals
- May 22 - Panel Interviews
- May 23 - Finals
(When you make it through a round, you get to proceed to the next!)
For the preliminary dance audition, you will perform a freestyle dance in groups of 5 in front of the judges. (Your freestyle could be a combination of Jazz and Hip-Hop which includes movements that you are comfortable with!)
For the semi-final round, you will learn a dance combination and kickline and perform it for the judges.

Qualifications and What the Judges Look for
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are looking for candidates who are 18 years old at the time of the preliminary auditions. You should be a high school graduate or have a GED. The DCC has no specific height and weight requirements. However, you should look well-proportioned in their dance wear.
The judges will evaluate you based on your dance technique, enthusiasm, poise, showmanship, personal appearance, kicks, splits, energy, figure, and personality!!!
Audition Attire and What to Bring
You should wear the following to the auditions:
- Two-piece attire (Top: Dance/athletic bra top, Bottom: Hot pants/short boy shorts)
- Skin-colored dance tights
- Dance/cheer shoes
Note that the DCC recommends a specific dance wear store with a discount code for you! Check it out on their FAQs section.
Please bring the following to the auditions:
- Identification - driver's license or passport
- Extra attire just in case
- Water bottle
- Lunch and snacks
- Personal grooming items/make-up

Prep Classes

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are offering weekly prep classes which are lead by DCC assistant choreographers and former team members!!! You will learn their style and techniques, including dance combinations, high kicks, and more. Each class session will cost you $30.
